Johannesburg, October 2025 — DISA Equipment, the exclusive Southern African distributor for Tonly heavy-duty trucks, has announced the launch of the new Tonly DTH145 hybrid dump truck range — a tough and fuel-efficient solution designed specifically for Africa’s demanding mining and quarrying conditions.
“The Tonly DTH145 hybrid dump trucks, with advanced technology and robust design features, support the global shift towards higher productivity, safer operation and fuel-efficiency,” says Johann Viljoen, National Sales Manager at DISA Equipment. “We are confident that this range will set new standards in sustainable heavy-duty haulage.”
Demonstrations Underway in 2026
DISA Equipment will host a series of demonstration trials on local mine sites in early 2026, inviting established fleet owners to evaluate the DTH145 under real production conditions. The aim is to generate performance and cost data before the wider release of the model.
“Our customers want to see how the DTH145 performs on their roads, with their loading equipment and in challenging weather conditions,” Viljoen explains. “These demonstrations will allow operators to measure cost per tonne and hybrid fuel efficiency against their existing diesel haulers.”
The trials will also test component wear rates and overall operating efficiency, highlighting potential savings and sustainability benefits. During the programme, DISA’s technical team will provide on-site support, operator training, and full parts availability.
Safety and Smart Integration
As part of South Africa’s regulatory drive toward safer mining operations, Level 9 vehicle intervention system compatibility is a key feature of the DTH145. This allows the truck to automatically integrate with existing proximity detection systems on gold, platinum, and bulk commodity mine sites, ensuring full compliance and operator protection.
Performance Highlights
The DTH145 hybrid dump truck has been engineered for heavy-duty performance and operator confidence.
Key specifications include:
Payload capacity: 91 tons (rated load 58 000 kg)
Engine power: 316 kW
Bucket capacity: 52 m³
Fuel consumption: Approx. 25 litres per hour (average under controlled test cycles)
ROPS/FOPS certification and a failsafe braking system
Fully hydraulic steering with emergency backup
These features make the DTH145 ideal for tough haulage tasks — from overburden removal to ore transport on steep gradients — while reducing fuel costs and maintenance downtime.
Service and Support
DISA Equipment backs every Tonly truck with technical advisory, repair, maintenance and spare parts support through a wide national network of branches and authorised distributors. The company’s commitment ensures that customers benefit from reliable uptime and total lifecycle support.
